Plots

A romantic drama about a soldier who falls for a conservative college student while he's home on leave. - Anonymous

South Carolina US Army Special operations soldier John is on summer leave from his German base, visiting his widowed father. Being gallant on the pier, he befriends college student Savannah, a college student, and her buddies, a terminal father and his angelic son. John falls in love with Savannah, who diagnoses his beloved, gentle but weird father as mildly autistic. He plans not to sign up again, but 9/11 changes that, and she won't wait idly while their friends desperately need help. - KGF Vissers

A bittersweet account of the toll distance and time takes on a relationship. John Tyree, a soldier in the US Army, meets good-girl Savannah Curtis while on leave. They spend two weeks together before she returns to school and he returns to duty. Their relationship flourishes through letters until 9/11, when John decides to re-enlist. Savannah cannot take all this time apart, and she falls in love with a familiar face back home. John returns home after a family emergency, and faces life without Savannah, until finally they have hope for a future together.

While Sergeant John Tyree is home on two weeks leave from Germany, he meets Savannah after he dives into the ocean to retrieve Savannah's purse that had fallen off a pier. John eventually falls in love with Savannah, who promises to write to him until he returns from overseas. - yusufpiskin
